EDEN 2010: Malta

The Isla, also called the Senglea is a peninsula situated opposite of Maltas capital city Valetta. Taxi boats take divers out to a breathtaking diving site. Stunningly beautiful caves welcome the explorers and shipwrecks were placed underwater in order to provide a basis for coral reefs to develop. The European Destinations of Excellence – EDEN - is a project promoting sustainable tourism development models across the European Union. 25 tourist destinations across Europe were awarded with the EDEN title of ‘European Destination of Excellence in Aquatic Tourism’ in 2010.
