Over 300 lakes and an abundance of small islands are situated in the Zarasai region of Lithuania. Due to its small rivers that flow through this magical landscape, known as the heavenly shore on earth, the protected area was awarded with the EDEN 2010 title. Astonishing lagoons invite visitors to explore the region on a relaxing canoe trip, cruising on the lake. The sustainable environment and the homemade traditional cuisine offer a timeless experience in the truly unique resort. The European Destinations of Excellence – EDEN - is a project promoting sustainable tourism development models across the European Union. In 2010, 25 tourist destinations across Europe were awarded with the EDEN title of ‘European Destination of Excellence in Aquatic Tourism’. In summer 2010 Media Consulta produced 50 videos for the 25 winning destinations all over Europe. Additional footage can be ordered on request.
