EDEN 2009: Spain

The European Destinations of Excellence – EDEN - is a project promoting sustainable tourism development models across the European Union. Every year the best destinations win the EDEN award. In the summer of 2009 Media Consulta produced 44 videos for 22 winning destinations all over Europe. The EDEN destination of Spain is the Delta del Ebro. The region offers reed beds, salt marshes and wetlands. The wetlands are an ideal place for growing rice. The Delta is the second largest rice growing area in Europe. Another fascinating experience is a cruise on a traditional boat in the lagoons during which visitors learn about the rich cultural history of the region.
